談到052D型驅逐艦的部署，曹衛東指出，同型艦艇數量較少時，放在一起使用可提高效率。但未來驅逐艦的發展，「仍需建更大型的飛彈驅逐艦」。如建造萬噸級的飛彈驅逐艦，搭載更多武器，航程也更遠。此外，也應增加驅逐艦數量。
